Second Amendment of the American Constitution

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The Second Amendment, History on the Net

The Second Amendment was created in 1791 for the protection of villages and has changed a lot over the years. The Antifederalists argued for the Second Amendment in addition to other rights as a counterweight to federal government power that might remove personal freedoms.

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.”
