The origin of the Second Amendment stems from the belief right that one has to protect yourself from intruders and other threats.  However,  now people believe that it means unlimited access to weapons.

James Madison wrote the Second Amendment and the rest of the Bill of Rights for the United States of America.

Some have argued that the Second Amendment has become anachronistic for two reasons. First, the fear of a federal attack on state sovereignty has disappeared. Second, the nature of firearm technology has provided every person with the equivalency of a modern infantry rifle squad. 

Recently, people feel like guns provide more harm than protection.  Advocates argue for increased laws reducing guns in society.
